My Names is Lou Jones and I am the North West Regional Development Officer for British Dressage. I have been riding for pretty much 42 years as I had my first Shetland Pony when I was 6 months old. I have always had horses throughout my life and I worked around the world as a Showjumping groom for several years in my 20’s. Showjumping has always been my preferred discipline, however having 2 young girls my priorities changed so I made a gradual change towards Showing and Dressage. I became more addicted to Dressage since starting the role as an RDO, I wanted to get out there and sit on the member’s side so I could understand more about the sport as a whole. I have recently had a new horse called Albert ! He is 9 and a 16hh Full Irish Draught and a true gentleman. Having lost some confidence on my previous horse, I am far happier now and hoping that I can move forward and hit some personal goals. Having had to downsize from my previous horse, I decided that I would treat myself to an Elevator Bridle, I have always loved the quality and style but I have never actually needed one! So this was a perfect excuse :) Albert does a bit of everything so I am looking forward to getting out and about and maybe give some unaffiliated jumping and cross country (nothing big :) ) a try again. My hope is that we can do some Showing next year and improve on our Dressage, but most of all just have some fun.
