My name is Dan.

How old were you when you started riding? I started riding - along with everyone else at my school aged 8. A teacher used to take us to the local riding school, that progressed onto getting a pony on loan.

What was the name of the first horse you ever rode? The first pony I ever rode was T.T. or Tiny Tim to give him his full name! He shared a stable with his girlfriend Tootsie!

Who has been your inspiration? I was lucky enough to go to Agricultural College where I had an amazingly inspiring and positive tutor called Cherry Elvin. She's listened to my whinging for years and always gives sensible, helpful advice. We now own a 3 year old together who will come out next year.

When was the last time you fell off? I didn't fall off - I was thrown off! A four year old mare decided to have a moment the second I got on her, I didn't stand a chance! I still ride her and it hasn't happened again - touch wood!

What is the one horsey item you could not live without? A tin of treats - in the school, on the lorry, in the stables. I hate not being able to reward the horses when they do so much for us, and a bit of bribery goes a long way!

What is the best piece of advice you have been given by a fellow horseman/woman? Carl Hester who trains me, made me aware of the bigger picture with horses and not to get caught up just in the here and now with them, it's a long road to Grand Prix.

If you could ride any horse in the world, who would it be? There are so many good horses, I'd love a go on a very forgiving top level show jumper. The feeling over one of those maximum height and spread fences must be AMAZING!

Black or brown tack? Black tack always, and no OTT bling thanks! My horses have beautiful heads and I want to see them.

If you could ride at any venue in the world, where would it be? I would love to ride at Aachen, it's the home of dressage sport.

Do you have any horsey superstitions, (odd socks, at competitions etc)? I'm not superstitious, but I definitely have a routine at shows and I wouldn't like that disrupted!
